Dezan Shira joins official visit to Phu Tho Province, Vietnam

On May 4, 2016 an official visit of the Italian Embassy in Vietnam to the Vietnamese province of Phu Tho took place. As a representative of Dezan Shira & Associates, Erasmo Indolino (International Business Advisory at the Hanoi office) attended the mission as part of the Italian delegation consisting of the Ambassador of Italy in Vietnam, Cecilia Piccioni; the First Secretary and Head of the Commercial Office of Embassy of Italy, Natalia Sanginiti; the Scientific Attaché, Mariano Anderle; the President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam, Michele D’Ercole and representatives of two companies operating in Vietnam.

The Italian delegation visited Thuy Van Industrial Park, where Dezan Shira had the chance to acquire knowledge on the current status and future projects for the Industrial Park by speaking with members of the Foreign Affairs’ Department of Phu Tho and with representatives of the Industrial Park’s management board. The Italian delegation was also received by the Provincial Party Secretary, Mr. Hoang Dan Mac, at the Provincial Party’s office. The mission continued at the People’s Committee’s Phu Tho office where Erasmo Indolino took part along with the Italian delegation on the seminar on opportunities for economic cooperation between the province of Phu Tho and Italy. On the Vietnamese side, in addition to the above-mentioned Provincial Party Secretary Mr. Hoang Dan Mac, attendees of the meeting included several representatives of the Provincial People Committee, leaders of departments such as Foreign Affairs, Planning and Investment, and Industrial Parks’ management. During the seminar, the Vietnamese side explained the development plans of Phu Tho province and benefits for Italian investors when establishing their operations in the already operational Industrial Zones or in those currently under construction. The Italian delegation, through the Italian ambassador and the President of the Chamber of Commerce, stressed that relations between Italy and Vietnam have never been so favorable both from the diplomatic point of view, following the official State visit in Vietnam by the Italian President Sergio Mattarella last November, and from a commercial point of view, following the completion of negotiations for a comprehensive free trade agreement between the European Union and Vietnam.

The attendance of Dezan Shira at the official visit to Phu Tho province is part of the continuous process of gathering knowledge about investment opportunities in Vietnam’s Industrial Zones. These efforts allow Dezan Shira to achieve its goal in facilitating foreign direct investments for all those who intend to establish their operations in ASEAN region. According to Erasmo Indolino, the Vietnamese government’s great strides towards further developing the northern provinces confirms the country’s ability to create a more attractive business environment for foreign investors by leveraging important services and infrastructure projects that enable Vietnam to position itself perfectly as destination of choice for the “China plus one” strategy.

The invitation to participate at the mission received from Embassy of Italy reflects the excellent relations with the Italian community that Alberto Vettoretti, managing partner of Dezan Shira & Associates, has been able to cultivate since Dezan Shira’s expansion to Vietnam in 2008, and his place as a key facilitator for those foreign businesses looking to establish and grow their business in Vietnam.
