AmCham 7:01 Series: Suzhou Dinner Discussion on Vietnam, the Next Frontier for Your Business or Career?

Suzhou, China | October 29th, 2013 | 6.30pm - 8.30pm

Rising costs in relation to supply chains, human resources and other operational areas are a chief concern of American businesses in China. Many in the media have speculated that China’s days as “the world’s workshop” are coming to a close. According to AmCham Shanghai’s 2012 Business Climate Survey however, less than 15% of American companies have moved or planned to move production out of China because of rising costs.

In the mean time, several countries in Southeast Asia, such as Vietnam, have started to compete with China by promoting themselves as cheaper alternatives. Is moving manufacturing to Vietnam an option that more American companies should consider? The topics covered will include where to invest in Vietnam (including possible industrial zones), Vietnam's tax regimes, Free Trade Agreements and the costs of doing business in Vietnam.
