Dezan Shira & Associates is pleased to announce that the Benelux Chamber of Commerce PRD has invited Mr. Stephen O’Regan, Associate of our International Business Advisory team in Guangzhou, to examine the process for SME business restructuring in China. The event will comprise of three interactive sessions, during which each speaker will give a brief presentation on a different SME related topic. After each presentation attendees will be given the opportunity to ask questions on the discussed topic.

Session 1: Setting up a business
Nathan Jansen, General Manager of 1421 Consulting Shenzhen office has experience advising inbound clients from a variety of industries. In Shenzhen he is responsible for the franchised office of the 1421 group. This branch office is a startup itself and the majority of the projects in Shenzhen for 1421 involve start-ups. Different company entities, but also alternatives will be discussed.

Session 2: Restructuring your business

For many enterprises, the business conditions in place when they began their China operations have shifted drastically. To respond to these changes, companies can consider restructuring their businesses from various angles: business scope, HR management, location of operations, and more. Stephen O'Regan from Dezan Shira & Associates will examine the related areas and explore how restructuring can optimize your operations and create additional value for your business.

Session 3: Challenges as a foreign business in China

Joost Quist, CFO of SHV Energy China will discuss the past and current challenges of SHV, the largest family owned company of Holland in China. Joost Quist has over 8 years of experience at SHV (2 years HQ, 3 years Italy, 3 months Brazil and last 2,5 years in China). SHV Energy China has a turnover of around CNY 4 billion, 5000 employees and serves over a million customers.

Session 4: Legal Compliance
Joe Rocha III joined Wang Jing & Co. a full service PRC Law Firm, in 2011. Joe has worked closely with various practice groups and has managed various matters instructed by foreign investors, including Foreign Direct Investments (JV’s, RO, WOFEs), assisting on issues related to daily operation and management of foreign investors in China such as labor, tax, commercial and contractual issues, Intellectual Property and dispute resolution.
