Making the Right Move: Compliance Considerations for Manufacturing SMEs in China
Hybrid | Friday, October 25, 2024 | 16:00-18:00 China time / 9:00-11:00 CET time
Ivy Gu, Senior Manager of Audit and Corporate Accounting Services at Dezan Shira & Associates, will be presenting her insights on compliance considerations from a financial perspective for manufacturing SMEs in China during EU SME Centre's event, Making the Right Move. She will deliver a keynote presentation, followed by a panel discussion.
For small and medium-sized enterprises in the manufacturing sector, corporate compliance management is gradually becoming a topic of critical importance within the current business environment. Compliance is not only a key factor to companies’ economic interests; compliance issues can also affect companies’ reputation and sustainability.
On ESG in particular, SMEs in China face significant challenges in navigating the complex regulatory landscape. They are also often constrained by limited resources. Addressing these challenges is crucial for ensuring long-term sustainability and compliance with the regulations. By focusing on operational ESG strategies, SMEs can better align with environmental, social, and governance requirements, which are also increasingly demanded by stakeholders. This includes adhering to stringent EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) requirements. Prioritising ESG initiatives not only helps SMEs meet regulatory demands more effectively. It also fosters sustainable growth and improves companies’ overall impact on society and the environment.
Therefore, it is essential to outline and discuss the compliance challenges encountered by manufacturing SMEs. These challenges exist for companies already operating in China, as well as for those planning to enter the market. Issues can arise in procurement, supply chain, sales, digitalisation, as well as ESG. It is thus important for SMEs to identify commonalities and solutions for success. This workshop will discuss these needs and provide useful information for the everyday operations and compliance issues of SMEs.
