Key Changes to Singapore's Employment Act

On November 20^th 2018, Singapore’s Parliament passed the new Employability Act (EA) bill which came into effect April 1^st, 2019.

The main purpose of the Act is to extend Singapore’s current employment law to a bigger share of the workers, particularly employees with managerial and executive functions. Amongst other things, the new bill will:

• Extend basic provisions and extra protections to more employees;
• Offer improved flexibility to workers and employers;
• Change dispute resolutions between employers and employees.
