Manufacturing Shift from China: Will Vietnam be the Best Destination?
PresentationWith the ongoing trade war between the US and China and the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen a trend of MNCs moving out of China. A recent survey by Jetro said that 1400 Japanese investors are planning to expand or setup new businesses in Viet Nam.
On September 9, Trent Davies, International Business Advisory Manager, spoke at Eurocham's webinar, Manufacturing shift from China: Will Vietnam be the best destination, and discussed some of the most updated information about this issue, including:
- Overview of the tariff war, COVID-19 pandemic, relocation of global supply chains, and Vietnam’s new international trade commitments. Is the newly signed EVFTA, a large workforce, and improved infrastructure in Viet Nam, good enough to attract MNC production lines from China to Viet Nam?
- US tech giant, Apple, annouced that 3-4 million wireless headphones (AirPods) will be produced in Vietnam in 2020. What are the pros and cons of Vietnam as a destination for investors and manufacturers?
- What are the new measures that the Government of Viet Nam has undertaken to create a better business environment and attract foreign investors into Viet Nam?
