Would I need to obtain a license to export goods in India?

Q&A

Currently, the majority of goods can be freely exported without the exporter needing to possess a license. Exceptions to this include products listed in the Indian Trade Classification (ITC) Harmonized System. These goods are either restricted or prohibited for export. Those restricted can be exported after acquiring a license from the DGFT and include vintage products, medicines and drugs, live birds and animals. Whilst those prohibited include but are not limited to counterfeit goods, narcotics and literature with outdated Indian borders.
