Dezan Shira Meets the An Giang Province’s Delegation in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
The An Giang Province is one of the most commercially promising areas in Vietnam. It is located 190 km west of Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) and 100 km away from Phnom Penh, Cambodia, with which it shares a border. The Province currently contains 2.15 million inhabitants, 1.33 million of which reside in the countryside.
Thanks to fertile lands, fresh water year-round and a large labor force, An Giang has a number of advantages to exploit by attracting foreign investors. In its attempt to promote the region’s commercial opportunities, the An Giang’s People’s Committee is cooperating with the Italian government.
On July 29, 2016, representatives of both countries and of two Italian companies operating in Vietnam met in the Consulate General of Italy in HCMC. These included: Carlotta Colli, Italian general consul, Paolo Lemma; newly appointed Trade Commissioner of the Italian Trade Agency, Michele D’Ercole; President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam; An Giang’s People’s Committee; Vietnamtrade Promotion Agency; An Giang’s Business Association and Oscar Mussons, Dezan Shira & Associates’ International Business Advisory Associate in the company’s HCMC office. The delegates discussed possible partnerships between An Giang and Italy in the fields of education, food processing, agriculture and the machinery industry.
In particular, the delegation representing An Giang’s interests asked the Italian representatives to support the Province’s university development, to export its technological capabilities in the food processing and the machinery industry, to offer diversified tourism services and to generally strengthen bilateral trade relations.
Furthermore, the Vietnamese delegation presented the Province’s investment incentives, which are provided to active investors within An Giang. The Italian authorities accepted the majority of the proposals with enthusiasm and showed strong interest in the cooperation. After the formal meeting, the Italian consul hosted a networking lunch, where representatives also exchanged gifts. The informal lunch was a great opportunity to strengthen relations between all the attendees and, consequently, to further the development of the Province.
The attendance of Dezan Shira at this event is part of the company’s continuous attempt to discover interesting investment localities for its clients in Vietnam. Due to the quick and sizeable growth expected in An Giang and Dezan Shira’s longstanding engagement with the Italian business community, the company was attracted to this important networking opportunity. Through these events, Dezan Shira continues to monitor the cutting edge of foreign investment trends throughout Asia.
Dezan Shira & Associates has been operating in Vietnam since 2008. Its activities are supervised by Alberto Vettoretti, the firm’s managing partner. As an Italian national, Vettoretti has established excellent relations with the Italian community in Vietnam. With its broad knowledge and strong relationships, the company is a vital partner for advising foreign businesses looking to establish and grow their operations in Vietnam.
