Alberto Vettoretti Examines Vietnam’s Manufacturing Sector

On June 12, 2018, Alberto Vettoretti, Managing Partner of Dezan Shira & Associates, presented a seminar on doing business in Vietnam and comparison between the manufacturing sectors in South China and Vietnam, with the Belgium and Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and Italian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong.

What was discussed?

Economic reforms have dramatically transformed Vietnam from one of the world’s poorest countries 20 years ago, to a lower middle-income country today. The country has had an average annual GDP growth rate of 6.9% since 1990 and continues to rank as one of the fastest growing Asian economies. The country is at a turning point of reform and development. For foreign investors and enterprises, significant opportunities await following the recent conclusion of a Free Trade Agreement between Hong Kong and ASEAN, the CPTPP and the European Union and Vietnam Free Trade Agreement.

Mr. Vettoretti touched on Vietnam’s development in the context of China+1/ASEAN and all the FTAs being implemented and compared the manufacturing environment and its challenges in South China and Vietnam giving practical examples and case studies on the many projects he supervised in both countries.
