Giovanni Lovisetti Appointed Vice President of THUAAIT
Earlier this month at the Dezan Shira & Associates liaison office in Milan, Italy, the Tsinghua University Alumni Association Italia (THUAAIT) was officially established. Our International Business Advisory Associate and Tsinghua alumnus, Giovanni Lovisetti, was appointed Vice President of the Association.
Why was the THUAAIT formed?
Italy (Milan especially) is an important location for Tsinghua’s activities abroad due to the strong cooperation between Tsinghua University and Politecnico di Milano University.
On 22 February 2018, the President of Tsinghua University, Qiu Yong, and the President of the Politecnico di Milano, Ferruccio Resta, signed an agreement in the Great Hall of the People to establish the Sino-Italian Design Innovation Hub in Milan. The signed agreement was witnessed by Chinese President, Xi Jinping, and Italian President, Sergio Mattarella. It is the first education and research base set up by Tsinghua University in Europe, indicating the comprehensive implementation of Tsinghua University’s global strategy.
THUAAIT is a nonprofit Association with the aim of establishing Tsinghua in Italy, developing cultural activities between Tsinghua and Italian Institutions and supporting the Tsinghua Alumni network.
London Gathering
Giovanni attended the first Tsinghua University European conference for alumni in London, in which 400 alumni from across Europe attended keynotes and discussions around education, business and technology.
Leading business figures, including Wang Xiaochuan (CEO of Chinese search engine, Sogou) and Gu Xianfeng (computer science professor at the State University of New York), shared innovative ideas and forward thinking in their respective fields.
