Workshop on FDI in China for Graduates from New South Wales, Australia

On August 16th, 2019, our Shanghai team held a workshop for graduates from the University of New South Wales, Australia.

Our Director of International Tax and Transfer Pricing, Paul Dwyer, Deputy Regional Manager of International Business Advisory (IBA), Riccardo Benussi, and Senior Business Advisory Associate, Lorena Miera, presented on the topic of “FDI environment and overview of financial systems in China”. Our Junior Business Advisory Associate, Zoey Zeng, provided insights on the work involved in being a foreign investment consultant in China.

Foreign Direct Investment Trends in China

Riccardo analyzed China’s foreign direct investment trends, global influence of the China-US trade war and strategies such as “China +1” and “Made in China 2025”.

Paul then went on to describe transfer pricing and profit repatriation methods in China compared to the rest of the world, using case studies such as Amazon and Google as examples.

Lorena highlighted the potential impacts of technology on the job market – and both the challenges and opportunities that come with these technological advancements.

This presentation covered the difference in China’s business operations compared to various other regions, as well as the opportunities and challenges of doing business in China.

More importantly, the Dezan Shira team shared their experiences with a focus on career development for the students involved.
