Spotlight on our Australian Desk with Ines Liu
We are pleased to introduce Ines Liu as our new Head of the Australian Desk.
In this news piece, we sit down with Ines as she introduces us to what the Australian Desk is, what it does, and how it can help Australian companies thrive in the Asian market.
Can you briefly explain what the Australian Desk is and what it does?
The Australian Desk is a special advisory team within DSA that supports Australian companies setting up and operating in Asia. Over the years, we have become a trusted advisor to many Australian companies and individuals, helping to facilitate over AUD$260 million worth of investment.
We are members of numerous Australian-focused organizations throughout Asia and have long lasting relationships with other Australian institutional entities operating in the region.
We are also active within Australia, building strong ties with organizations such as the Macquarie Graduate School of Management (MGSM) at Macquarie University in Sydney. I am currently the President of the MGSM Alumni Association’s Beijing Chapter and serve as a central point of contact with other global chapters. I will be working closely together with the school and other alumni globally.
Does the Australian Desk have any materials that investors can use to support their businesses in Asia?
In addition to all of our Asia Briefing materials (articles, magazines, and detailed business guides), we also have our Asiapedia investor resource library. Within Asiapedia you can search by location and see all of the resources specifically relating to Australia including FTAs, infographics, and magazines.
As a member of MGSM’s alumni association I have also written a series of articles for them on doing business in China. The first article on finding an appropriate investment structure to enter China with has already been published. You can find it here on their news page. Stayed tuned for the rest of the series!
If you are an Australian investor and are interested in new business opportunities in Asia or have any questions, you can get in touch with me by clicking here.
As the new Head of Australian Desk, I will be taking a trip to Sydney, Australia from September 25 – October 13, 2019. While there, I will be working to further develop the firm’s Australian Desk and strengthen relations in the country. You can find out more about my upcoming trip here.
