Vietnam-US Business Forum 2019

Dezan Shira & Associates had the pleasure to attend two Vietnam-US Business Forum 2019 events. Representing the firm, Dustin Daugherty, Head of North American Business Development, was asked to participate in both the Los Angeles and Seattle forums. During the events, Dustin shared his first-hand, on-the-ground experience with businesses looking to establish a presence in Vietnam.

As a member of the panel, Dustin, alongside fellow Vietnam experts, discussed the regulatory environment in Vietnam and opportunities available for US investors to expand business operations there.

Dustin also presented on manufacturing in Vietnam, discussing the overall FDI environment including policies, incentives and existing infrastructure. This included a comparison of the strengths and weaknesses of various Vietnamese regions, as well as walking business owners through the steps, requirements and obligations of incorporation.

The Vietnam-US Business Forum 2019 was organized by the Vietnamese Consulate General in San Francisco, Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, and in Los Angeles, the LA Mayor’s Office of Eric Garcetti, while the Greater Seattle Partners helped co-organize the forum in Seattle.

The Forum offered US businesses:

• Insights into the latest developments in the Vietnam economy, government policies, and incentives for foreign investment in Vietnam
• Opportunities to meet directly with potential Vietnamese business partners, including buyers
• An informative first-hand case-study from an LA company currently doing business in Vietnam

He was responsible for guiding international clients through the market entry process into Vietnam and wider ASEAN region.
