Shanghai Office’s First In-Person Event of 2020: Effective Downsizing and Salary Reduction Strategies

As China continues its recovery from Covid-19, cities are opening up and in-person events and gatherings are once again being held.  Recently team members from our Shanghai office held their first offline seminar this year.

Allan Xu, Head of Business Advisory Services (BAS), and Chenchen Liu, BAS Senior Associate, were in Nanjing at the European Chamber’s office to host a workshop on effective downsizing and salary reduction strategies.

In the wake of Covid-19, many companies are facing difficult HR challenges. Tasks such as downsizing and salary reduction are not common everyday tasks done by the HR team, and lack of experience in these types of matters can leave companies vulnerable to legal risks.

During the workshop, Allan and Chenchen provided attendees with a comprehensive overview of employee and salary reduction, highlighting the latest labor laws and regulations, strategies for developing a downsizing plan, best practices, and local case studies.
