Twelve Years of Supporting FDI in Suzhou: OfficeStar interviews Vivian Mao, Partner Dezan Shira and Associates

 

At the beginning of new year 2023, OfficeStar interviewed Vivian Mao in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. Below we share a condensed version of the interview.

Suzhou is a frontier city for foreign investment in China’s Yangtze River Delta region. Recently, Dezan Shira & Associates’ Partner Vivian Mao, who is located in Shanghai, sat down with OfficeStar, a leading workspace provider in Suzhou, and talked about the general market situation, as well Dezan Shira & Associates evolvement in the region.

Dezan Shira & Associates opened its Suzhou office in 2011. In 2020, the Suzhou team expanded and moved into a new office run by OfficeStar, located in the Suzhou Industrial Park. In 2022, the firm established an independent subsidiary there with the confidence and commitment to further develop the Suzhou market.

 

Asked about the company’s future development goals in Suzhou, Vivian said, “We will keep focusing on building a professional team who provides streamlined services, strengthening in-depth research on automation, cost management optimization etc. for high-tech and manufacturing industries, while incorporating the characteristics and unique needs of the local market. We also hope to connect with more industrial customers and enhance their development with our expertise and achieve win-win situation with more partners like OfficeStar.”

 

In the conversation, Vivian also shared her visions on the post-covid FDI landscape, “At present, we see many companies turn to the “China+1” strategy, moving part of their supply chain or production line to Southeast Asia while retaining the Chinese market. Dezan Shira & Associates is well established in India, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka. We will leverage our strengths in these markets and provide professional support for companies and investors in need.”
