Ines Liu Invited to Speak on Health-Tech in China’s GBA with Finnish Delegation in Hong Kong
Dezan Shira & Associates had the pleasure to facilitate the Finnish Health Tech Delegation trip in Hong Kong from May 15 to 19. We extend our gratitude to Business Finland for the invitation and the General Consulate of Finland in Hong Kong for hosting the seminar on May 18. The event featured a distinguished panel comprising Ines Liu, our Senior Manager on the International Business Advisory team, alongside Hamish King and Jacky Li from Cisema, and Ian Liu and Theresa Luk from Deacons.
Comprising nine innovative Finnish companies specializing in medical technology and digital health, the delegation is actively pursuing market entry opportunities in the mainland of China through Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area (GBA). The delegates enthusiastically engaged in discussions to explore potential business prospects and address concerns associated with establishing their presence in the region.
Ines delivered a comprehensive sharing consisting of three sections, beginning with an overview on China’s healthcare policies and the health-tech cluster in the GBA. She then discussed current trends & opportunities in the health tech sector. Lastly, she commented on structuring option for market entry and tax considerations for Finnish companies operating in HK & GBA and the tax incentive that GBA offers.
Reflecting on the event, Ines commented:
“It was an honor to share my expertise with such a distinguished group, and I am confident that the information provided will serve as a valuable guide for Finnish health tech experts in terms of building businesses in Hong Kong and the GBA. This visit signifies the strengthening of business ties between China and Finland, and I am excited to be a part of it. As many health tech segments are open to foreign investment in China, my key advice for Finnish health tech experts is to create a well-thought and customized business strategy or model. It’s also crucial to protect your intellectual property by registering patents and trademarks and to connect with a reliable partner who can provide local expertise and resources to win foreign direct investment.”
