Marco Förster Showcases Indonesia and Vietnam FDI Potential at DBS Bank’s Emerging Markets Forum in Kuala Lumpur
Marco Foerster, Head of ASEAN Advisory at Dezan Shira & Associates, recently spoke at a seminar titled Emerging Frontiers: Investing in Vietnam and Indonesia. The event, organized by DBS Bank, took place at the JW Marriott in Kuala Lumpur and attracted over 70 high-ranking executives from prominent Malaysian companies.
As Southeast Asia’s largest bank, DBS works closely with Dezan Shira & Associates on FDI projects entering the region, as well as intra-ASEAN investments. During the event, lively discussions unfolded around various sectors in both Indonesia and Vietnam, including manufacturing, real estate, and subjects like the Just Energy Transition Partnership in Indonesia and in Vietnam, along with related opportunities in renewables. The attendees’ questions clearly showcased their enthusiasm and eagerness to investigate investment opportunities within these emerging markets. As the firm’s ASEAN Advisory Head, Marco shared his expertise in working with FDI in both fast-growing markets.
The conference featured a packed agenda, beginning with a welcome address by Abdul Raof Latiff, Country Head of DBS Malaysia. Afterward, Philip Wee, Executive Director of Group Research at DBS Bank, discussed the implications of a pause to the global hiking cycle.
Following the first presentation, Marco Förster presented expert advice on navigating the challenges of investing in Indonesia, emphasizing the complex regulatory environment but also the reasons why the country is nevertheless receiving a record high influx of FDI. Moh Arief Budiman, Indonesia Cross Industry Lead at DBS Bank, followed with an overview of the country’s political outlook and business opportunities.
After a tea break, Marco Förster returned to the stage to share insights on understanding the opportunities and challenges of investing in Vietnam. Hoang Xuan Mai, Vietnam Cross Industry Lead at DBS Bank, concluded the presentations, offering a guide to maximizing profits when investing in Vietnam.
The event ended with a networking lunch, allowing attendees to discuss the conference’s content further and forge new connections. Marco Förster said it was a great opportunity to collaborate with DBS and he looks forward to contributing further to the growth and success of businesses in the region.
