Giovanni Lovisetti Explores Belt and Road Initiative as Guest Expert at Confucius Institute and Università Cattolica
Giovanni Lovisetti, Senior Associate at Dezan Shira & Associates’ Milan Liaison Office, on November 9, 2023, was invited to partake as an expert speaker in the seminar titled The Belt & Road Initiative, the Chinese Development Model, and the Significance of Regional Relations: A Case Study of Vietnam. This event contributes to the course Business & Law in China – Managing Internationalisation in China, organized by the Confucius Institute of Milan in collaboration with the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan.
With a track record of lecturing on various aspects of Chinese and Vietnamese law across different Italian universities, Giovanni commented on this seminar as follows “it is more and more important for international business not to consider China and Vietnam just as two separate jurisdictions and markets. Instead, given the deepening integration between China and the Southeast Asian countries, foreign companies should look at these countries as two complementary parts of the same macro-region, leveraging the different business opportunities presented by each country.”
Giovanni was joined by lawyer Andrea Grasso, who directs and coordinates the course, and Paolo de Giovanni, Professor of Chinese for Business and Finance at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore.
Dezan Shira & Associates’ Presence in Europe
Europe has significant trade and investment dealings with Asia – ASEAN and India are both among the bloc’s top trade partners outside the EU. With parts of Asia rapidly developing and the EU pursuing trade agreements with Asian counterparts, there is a wealth of opportunities for European investors in the region.
Incorporated in Munich in January of 2021, Dezan Shira & Associates’ European office serves as a first point of contact for European companies wishing to do business in Asia. In both the Munich and Milan offices, our European-based team works with a variety of partners to educate businesses on the economic performance and regulatory environment of developing Asian economies.
