Riccardo Benussi Remotely Presents at Credimpex Italia’s Annual Assembly in Palermo
PALERMO – On May 24, 2024, Riccardo Benussi was invited as a remote speaker at the annual assembly of Credimpex Italia.
Held in a hybrid format, in Palermo, Sicily, the event saw contributions from notable Italian organizations, such as AIBE (Italian Association of Foreign Banks), ICC Italy (International Chamber of Commerce), FEDESPEDI (Italian Federation of International Freight Forwarders), and Intesa San Paolo bank.
Credimpex Italia, founded in 1985, is a non-profit association among Italian banking specialists, and focuses on international trade. With more than 500 members today, it includes professionals from logistics firms, law firms, and employees of Italian enterprises engaged in foreign trade.
The in-person segment was held at the Palermo office of Sicindustria, the Industrial Association for the Provinces of Agrigento, Caltanissetta, Enna, Messina, Palermo, Ragusa, and Trapani. This office also serves as the local contact point for the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) in Sicily. Both Sicindustria and the EEN are strategic partners of Dezan Shira and its Italian Desk.
Riccardo joined online and delivered a presentation in Italian titled: Nuovi orizzonti nel Commercio Internazionale – Sfide e Opportunità in un Mondo Diviso Il ruolo e peso dell’Asia (“New Horizons in International Trade – Challenges and Opportunities in a Divided World: The Role and Importance of Asia”).
In his presentation, Riccardo highlighted: “ Sicily’s exports have surged by 15.1% in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the same period of 2022, excluding the fuel and chemical sectors. Exports to Asia have shown remarkable growth, increasing by 23.5%. Agricultural products saw an 18.4% rise, while the food and beverage sector grew by 12.7%. These statistics underscore Sicily’s expanding reach and the growing demand for our products in Asian markets”.
He added: “Aside from e-commerce platforms and reliance on a few established distribution channels, for example, in China, Sicilian SMEs should be more confident in cultivating long-term efforts in Asia. That is where we can help with the implementation. We care about regional efforts from Italy; in fact, a while ago, we published the statistics of individual Italian regions’ exports to China, which can be accessed on our firm’s online bookstore.”
