Jennifer Halim Shares Insights at Chile Pacific Foundation Webinar on Indonesia’s Investment Outlook 2024

Jennifer Halim, Manager, International Business Advisory at Dezan Shira & Associates, recently spoke at a webinar hosted by the Chile Pacific Foundation. The event, titled “Indonesia: Opportunities for Chile at the ASEAN Gateway,” focused on exploring investment opportunities for Chilean businesses in Indonesia.

Following a similar collaboration with the Chile Pacific Foundation last year, Jennifer is providing insights into Indonesia’s investment landscape for 2024 and how Chilean companies can leverage the economic potential of this dynamic market.

Speaking alongside panelists Juan Carlos Dominguez, Chair of the Chilean Chapter of the Chile – Indonesia Business Council at SOFOFA, and Claudia Charles, Advisor in the Asia and Oceania Division at the Undersecretariat of International Economic Relations of the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jennifer discussed Indonesia’s investment performance in 2023, and economic growth in the first quarter of 2024, noting an increase in FDI inflows compared to the previous year. Further, Jennifer presented key sectors where Chilean businesses can find significant opportunities. She focused on sectors such as the basic metal industry, mining, and food and beverages, prompting active engagement from the audience eager to hear more about the best market entry strategies for capitalizing on these rapidly growing sectors.

“Despite global turmoil over the past 3 years, from the Covid-19 outbreak the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the impact of El-Nino, the Middle East conflict, and the Presidential Election; Indonesia’s economic growth remains resilient. The electoral victory of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming (President Jokowi’s first son) in 2024, signals a commitment to continue President Jokowi’s current policies. However, it is still too early to draw definitive conclusions about new policies until the new cabinet is sworn in in October ”, said Jennifer.

The anticipated economic growth and continuous infrastructure projects have created a compelling environment for investing in Indonesia. With a well-planned market entry strategy, the archipelago offers lucrative opportunities for foreign businesses to succeed.
