Naina Bhardwaj Invited for an Interview by Manufacturing Asia to Share Her Insights on India’s Move to Expedite Business Visa Process for Chinese Technicians

On September 5, 2024, Naina Bhardwaj, International Business Advisor at Dezan Shira & Associates’ India office, was invited for an exclusive interview hosted by Manufacturing Asia to provide insights into the visa delay issues for Chinese technicians and the Indian government’s decision to expedite the process in response to rising manufacturing concerns.

Estimated to become a US$5 trillion economy by 2025, India is gaining prominence as a global economic powerhouse. However, the ongoing delays in issuing business visas to Chinese technicians could potentially hamper its growth journey and ambitions of becoming a global manufacturing hub.

Appearing in an exclusive interview addressing the issue and hosted by Manufacturing Asia, a leading online editorial platform, Naina Bhardwaj shared her views and said: “despite the many restrictions the Indian government has imposed to reduce its economic dependence, it is still heavily reliant on Chinese imports.”

Moreover, she emphasized the need for the Indian government to streamline the visa process, stating, “To allow Chinese technicians to come to India, install necessary machinery, undertake repairs, and train local staff, it is crucial that we fast-track the visa approvals.”

Naina was also joined by Ravi Krishnaswamy, Senior Vice President of Energy, Sustainability, and Industrial Practice at Frost & Sullivan. Their discussion centred on the rising concerns among Indian manufacturers, who are facing significant revenue losses due to their reliance on Chinese expertise for operating and maintaining advanced machinery.
