Ines Liu Joins Former Federal Minister Andrew Robb at ACBC Victoria Roundtable on China’s Silver Economy Opportunities for Australian Investors
On October 15th, 2024, Ines Liu, Senior Manager of International Business Advisory and Head of the Australian Desk at Dezan Shira & Associates, joined the Executive China Update, organized by the Australia China Business Council (ACBC) Victoria. Ines was invited to co-lead a session with Australia’s former Federal Minister for Trade and Investment, Andrew Robb. The event, hosted by ACBC CEO Tom Parker, focused on China’s booming silver economy and the opportunities it presents for Australian investors.
With China’s rapidly aging population, the silver economy is emerging as a significant market. By 2040, it is projected that 402 million people in China will be aged 60 or above, representing 28% of the population. Andrew emphasized Australia’s strong expertise in aged care, positioning Australian businesses to capitalize on China’s evolving consumer needs.
Ines highlighted the Chinese government’s efforts to develop the silver economy, improving the well-being of its elderly population. She provided key insights into the sectors where opportunities are most promising and offered strategic guidance on entry routes for foreign enterprises looking to tap into this growing market.
The roundtable brought together business executives and industry leaders, both in-person and online, and concluded with an engaging Q&A session.
