Naina Bhardwaj Participates as a Guest Speaker and Panelist at the India Blockchain Summit 2024 in New Delhi
Naina Bhardwaj, International Business Advisor at Dezan Shira & Associates’ India Office, was invited to partake as an expert speaker and panelist at the India Block Chain Summit 2024 Organized by Giaka Capital, the event took place at Talkatora Indore Stadium, New Delhi, on October 19, 2024.
India’s skilled tech workforce, enabling government initiatives, and thriving startup ecosystem have positioned it as a key player in the global blockchain landscape. The India Blockchain Summit 2024 saw several global experts among its attendees, including government leaders, policymakers, investors, incubators, and industry captains, to discuss the emerging opportunities within India’s vibrant blockchain ecosystem.
At the esteemed business conclave, Naina contributed invaluable insights on the panel titled ‘Championing Policy and Advocacy for Women in Tech’. In her talk, she highlighted the significant challenges women face in technology, including gender gaps stemming from biases in STEM education, underrepresentation in leadership roles, pay disparities, limited career advancement opportunities and lack of job security.
Naina emphasized the need for a holistic and collaborative approach among all stakeholders— government, society, academia, and industry experts—to address these issues, stating, “We need a targeted policy framework that not only addresses pre-market entry barriers, such as increased STEM-based skill training for women and funding opportunities for building their tech startups, but also includes strong labor market initiatives. These should encompass flexible working hours, childcare facilities, gender pay audits, and mandates for women’s representation on company boards.
Concluding her discussion, Naina highlighted the value of targeted mentorship and leadership development programs, which are essential for bridging the gender gap and fostering career advancement. A growing representation of women not only enhances diversity but also brings new perspectives and solutions, which are key to India’s vision of becoming a global tech powerhouse and achieving self-reliance.
The summit underscored the far-reaching impact of blockchain technology and highlighted India’s leadership in this space. Naina’s participation enriched the event with discussions on the importance of women’s roles in tech, providing attendees with valuable insights to navigate this dynamic sector.
