[Official Launch] Dezan Shira & Associates Unveils the 2025 Asia Manufacturing Index

Dezan Shira & Associates is proud to unveil the second edition of The Asia Manufacturing Index (AMI), updated for 2025.

Asia continues to be a global manufacturing powerhouse, driven by the growth and innovation of countries like China, Vietnam, and Malaysia. As companies seek to capitalize on the region’s vast opportunities, an understanding of the distinctive features of each market is essential. The index acts as a valuable resource for foreign businesses looking to pinpoint the most advantageous locations for manufacturing across Asia.

“We are excited to announce the launch of the AMI 2025 rankings, which illuminate the critical importance of balanced economic development in driving long-term growth across the region,” said Marco Förster, Director of ASEAN at Dezan Shira & Associates. “Our findings reveal that while some countries may excel in specific areas, a well-rounded performance across infrastructure investment and workforce readiness is essential for establishing a strong manufacturing presence. We encourage businesses to engage with the index, explore the parameters that resonate with their goals, and discover which Indo-Pacific markets are the best fit for their strategic objectives”

The AMI 2025 delivers comprehensive analysis examining 11 different economies across Asia this year, up from the initial eight. For the 2025 edition, we have added Singapore, Japan, and South Korea. The rankings provide crucial evaluations to manufacturers necessary for decision-making. From assessing local regulations to cataloguing available incentive opportunities, the report covers eight key categories, each broken down into 49 specific parameters.

Still funded independently, Dezan Shira & Associates takes a pragmatic approach to the rankings by focusing on the realities manufacturers will encounter on the ground in: Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Vietnam. By prioritizing real-world conditions over government-provided information or theoretical models, the AMI presents a grounded view of manufacturing opportunities in Asia.

The index is freely available online and is specifically designed to help businesses navigate the complexities of the region. It is particularly beneficial for identifying prime locations for manufacturers aiming to diversify their supply chains within Asia.

Key highlights of AMI 2025 include:

  • A thorough comparison of Asia’s top manufacturing destinations
  • Country-by-country analysis, highlighting strengths and challenges
  • An expanded scope to include Japan, Singapore, and South Korea
