Riccardo Benussi Attends PAIH’s Business Forum in Warsaw as Joint Publication for Doing Business in China is Launched

Warsaw – Riccardo Benussi, partner at Dezan Shira & Associates, attended the 5th edition of PAIH’s (Polish Investment and Trade Agency) Annual Business Forum, held in Warsaw on October 2-3, 2024.

This year’s Forum drew over 4,600 participants, and on the first day, attendees engaged in a packed agenda featuring more than 30 panel discussions that spanned both local and international topics.

Sessions covered a wide array of themes, including “ESG – Enhancing the Competitiveness of Polish Exporters in Europe and Beyond,” “Africa – The Continent of the Future: How Can Polish Companies Capitalize on African Markets?” and “Doing Business in the Middle East – Key Challenges.”

Asia-focused panels, including “Future Trade Relations with China,” “The New Asian Consumer – Trends and Challenges in the Food Sector,” and “Southeast Asia – The New Centre of the World? Investment Prospects for Polish Companies,” featured significantly among the Forum’s discussions, highlighting the region’s growing importance.

Among the panels Riccardo attended was “India – Challenges and Opportunities for Polish Enterprises,” providing him the chance to connect with two of its experts Judyta Latymowicz, Chairwoman of the Polish branch of the Indian National Association of Legal Professionals (INALP) and leader of the India Desk at LEGALLY.SMART, where she is also a partner and Krzysztof Zalewski, President of the Board of the Warsaw-based think tank Boym Institute, who previously served at the Foreign Relations Office of the Chancellery of the President of Poland and at the Polish Parliament (Sejm).

The event also featured 55 stands from PAIH’s foreign trade offices, with the second day dedicated entirely to meetings between these offices and Polish entrepreneurs looking to expand their products and services globally, culminating in over 2,840 facilitated meetings. Riccardo shared his impressions of the event, stating: “My expectations were exceeded in terms of attendance, intensity of meetings. It’s my second time in Poland in one year and as we are looking to cooperate again with PAIH for another guide, I look forward to deepening our connection with the Polish SME sector and becoming a strategic partner for Asia as they explore possibilities in the region through us.”

Riccardo had the opportunity to meet with several representatives from PAIH’s Foreign Offices in Asia to gain insight into the agency’s support for Polish investors and the perspectives of Polish entrepreneurs looking to enter or expand in various Asian markets.

Among them was the China stand and its team, directed by Andrzej Juchniewicz, who has led the Foreign Trade Office in Shanghai for more than 13 years, working closely with Dezan Shira & Associates and China Briefing over recent months to produce An Introduction to Doing Business in China 2024/25 for Polish companies.

An Introduction to Doing Business in China 2024/25 for Polish Companies

Polish SMEs are increasingly drawing Chinese investment to leverage their innovative products. Following President Duda’s June 2024 visit to China, five key agreements were signed, including a visa-free policy for Polish citizens, further enhancing Poland-China relations. As ties deepen, understanding China’s market dynamics and regulations is vital for Polish companies entering this market. This business guide, created by Dezan Shira & Associates with the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, offers essential insights into the Sino-Polish relationship and current updates on doing business in China, serving as a valuable resource for Polish businesses in 2024/25 and beyond.
