Dezan Shira & Associates Joins AmCham Hanoi to Brief University of Texas Students on Business in Vietnam
On December 12, 2024, a group of business students from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin sat down for a candid discussion on Vietnam’s business climate. Hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) Hanoi at the InterContinental Hanoi Westlake, the session brought together industry leaders to share insights and personal experiences.
Dan Martin, International Business Advisor at Dezan Shira & Associates’s Hanoi office, joined Matt Kantrud, Managing Director of Polaris Vietnam, and Filip Graovac, Deputy Country Representative at The Asia Foundation’s Vietnam office, for a lively conversation covering Vietnam’s opportunities, challenges, and what it’s like to build a career in one of Asia’s fastest-growing markets.
“It was a fun conversation,” said Dan. “The students were sharp and asked great questions—not just about the big-picture economy, but also about what it’s like to actually live and work here. I shared my experience of helping businesses navigate Vietnam, and we talked about why this market is such an exciting place to be right now.”
The event, part of AmCham Hanoi’s external relations program, offered the students an on-the-ground look at Vietnam’s economy and its growing appeal to foreign businesses.
For the panelists, it was an opportunity to connect with future leaders and offer a glimpse of life in an emerging market that is anything but business-as-usual.
